Career:

As per the estimation, he has worked in several thousands albums in his entire career. He has been in various bands, certainly in Big Black and Shellac. He was part of Big Black from 1982 to 1987 and of shellac since 1992.

Steve Albini was best known as record producer since 1990. He used to dislike the term and preffered to receive no credit on album notes.

He helped record and tracked some of the most influential albums in the era of 1980s and 1990. This includes Nirvana's " In Utero ", Pixies " Surfer Rosa ", and multiple albums for Jesus Lizard and Urge Overkill.

Steve Albini's first impression regarding Nirvana was that he thought they were unremarkable version of the seattle sound.

Steve Albini used to record sessions with fee of 1300$ per day
Steve Albini's opinion used to say that putting producers as incharge can and often destroys the records while the role of recording engineer is to solve the problems of capturing sounds of musician , not to threat the artists control over their product.

Actually he tried to say that recording engineer and artists can work effectively.
