Labour Day

International labour day or May day is a day considered in many countries to celebrate rights of labours. This is the day to celebrate all time achievements of workers. This day is celebrated on 1st May but many countries vary the original date of celebration so that the holiday occurs on Monday that is close to 1 May.

Labour day has its origins in labour union movement( whose purpose is to maintain or improve the conditions for their employment), certainly in 8 hours day movement, which taught 8 hours for work, 8 hours for recreation and 8 hours for rest.

Labour day is celebrated on 1st May in Pakistan as a public holiday.

In Australia, Labour day is a public holiday on the date which varies between the states and territories.

In Bangladesh, an organization serving for the wellbeing of workers requested 24 April be declared as labour safety day in Bangladesh. However Bangladesh also celebrate labour day on 1st May.

Labour day is considered as national holiday in Bahamas. They celebrate this holiday on 1st Friday in June in order to make the weekend long for workers.

In 1894, Canada confirmed labour day as legal holiday on first Monday in September.

Labour day is officially merged with thanksgiving day on November 23 as Labour Thanksgiving Day in Japan.

Labour day which is considered as public holiday celebrated on 1st May in HongKong since 1999.

Conclusion:
                   Labour day is celebrated in different countries on different dates in different months but at the end of the day, it is all about the achievements and the rights of the workers and to appreciate their participation in development.
