Pakistan launching first ever moon mission!
Pakistan launched lunar moon mission which is set on friday, May 3. The purpose of this mission is to collect the samples from the far and dark sides of the moon and bring them back for the purposes of scientist study.On tuesday, Institute of science and technology said that Pakistan's first ever historic lunar mission, which was designed by the ICT in collaboration and cooperation with Shanghai Jiao Tong University(the university of china) and also with Pakistan's national space agency SUPARCO, will be aboard Chang'e-6.
Mission detail:
- This satellite will enter in high elliptical orbit around the moon with 12 hour orbital period, ranging from 200 km to 8600 km.
- Their aim is to collect about 2 Kg of lunar from the dark or far side of the moon and bring them back for analysis and study purposes.
Significance:
- ICube-Q mission is very important as Pakistan's space program is demonstrating its capabilities in moon exploration and in satellite development.
- This encourages international collaboration in space research, where Pakistan working alongside with China on this mission.
For the Chang'e-6 misison, China is carrying load from Pakistan, Italy, France and sweden.
And for Chang'e-7, China will bear payloads from Switzerland, Thailand and Russia.
